Support Your Child’s Development with VDM Optometrists’ Visual Perception Activity Books
Enhancing Your Child’s Visual Perception Skills with VDM Optometrists
Many parents are familiar with the importance of eyesight but may be less aware of a skill called visual perception. Visual perception involves how the brain interprets what the eyes see, which is essential for activities like reading, learning, and even playing. At VDM Optometrists, we’ve developed a specialized activity book aimed at strengthening these vital skills in children.
What Is Visual Perception and Why Does It Matter?
Visual perception skills allow children to make sense of their environment, recognize differences, identify shapes and patterns, and process spatial relationships. These skills play a critical role in daily life and learning activities, especially in school. A child with well-developed visual perception can follow instructions, differentiate letters and words, and complete tasks with greater ease.
If a child has underdeveloped visual perception, they might face challenges with academic performance or motor skills. Our activity books offer a fun, structured way to support visual development, giving kids a strong foundation for learning.
What’s Inside VDM Optometrists’ Visual Perception Activity Books?
Our books are filled with exercises and games that strengthen a variety of skills, including:
- Visual Discrimination: Helps children notice subtle differences and details, improving their ability to tell objects or letters apart.
- Visual Figure-Ground Perception: Allows kids to focus on specific elements within a busy background, helping them manage complex visual scenes, such as a cluttered page of text.
- Visual Closure: Teaches children to recognize shapes or objects even when part of the information is missing, enhancing problem-solving skills.
- Visual Memory: Supports children in remembering visual details for tasks like recalling sight words or spelling patterns.
- Visual Sequential Memory: Helps children recall the order of visual elements, such as letters or numbers, aiding reading and math skills.
Each exercise is tailored to be developmentally appropriate, making learning enjoyable and engaging. Our books come in two levels:
Level 1: Basic exercises for younger children or beginners.
Level 2: Advanced activities for children ready to progress in their visual development journey.
